Attorney David R. Clark graduated from Auburn University Montgomery, in Montgomery, Alabama, and obtained his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa.

Before opening his own law firm, he served as an associate attorney at a Birmingham defense firm, as well as on active duty as an U.S. Army judge advocate general (a military lawyer or JAG officer) and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama. His experience as a JAG officer includes serving in Iraq for nine months in 2007, where he helped the Iraqi government set up courts in which to try terrorists. He has also served as a special judge for the Millbrook Municipal Court and serves as a special judge for the Autauga County Probate Court, handling matters on a case-by-case basis.
